Albums
Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.
Before the formation of Toto the band, members performed sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs album from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.
Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their earlier albums and was criticized for its lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen quit The band held auditions to find a replacement frontman. The band selected guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in the year 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to commemorate its 20th anniversary. The band went through old tapes and recordings to create the album. The album was a hit by fans, and the band embarked on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem von Schröck took over Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the band.

Drummer David Hungate also left the band after the tour. Leland Sklar took over his place.

The song "Africa" is a track from the album Toto IV, was written by the members of the band and was produced by David Pich. It was written by the band members and produced by David Paich.
